As at 1.00 p.m. (London time) on 5 December 2008 (being the first closing date of the Offers), Lake Acquisitions (acting for EDF) had received valid acceptances in respect of 644,291,988 British Energy Ordinary Shares representing 62.19 per cent. of the current issued share capital of British Energy. Rolls-Royce and Areva to work together on UK Nuclear Programmes

Rolls-Royce today announced plans to work together with AREVA, the French nuclear power plant and services provider, on jointly agreed programmes which will see the first new nuclear reactors built in the UK for over 20 years.
