This document sets out proposed arrangements that will be applied by regulators for management of the end of the GDA assessment process, focusing in particular on the GDA Confirmation and related Exclusions and subsequent design changes.
In developing these arrangements, NII acknowledges that the reactor designs being taken through GDA may not be complete to the extent necessary to issue an un-caveated GDA Design Acceptance Confirmation in time for June 2011. This may result in there being some unresolved issues and these may therefore need to be defined as exclusions to the Design Acceptance Confirmation. In addition, exclusions may also arise if technical issues raised during the regulators’ assessment are not fully closed-out at the end of GDA.
After the GDA Design Acceptance Confirmation is issued the design may continue to be developed and technical issues will be addressed and there therefore needs to be an ongoing agreed, assessment and change control process.
During GDA we may also identify some key safety requirements that we will expect to see demonstrated during the construction phase of each plant built. If these are significant, we may choose to identify these as GDA Conditions.
This document identifies how these exclusions, conditions and change control processes will be managed. You can download the Discussion Document On Management Of GDA Design Acceptance here.
