The Confederation of British Industry CBI has responded to a government consultation on the future of nuclear power.

The CBI believes that nuclear power has an important role to play both in ensuring a more diverse electricity mix, thereby increasing energy security, and in reducing emissions to help achieve UK climate change objectives.

Public confidence in the safety and security of nuclear power stations is vital. The CBI supports the Government’s view that provided proper procedures in place, the safety, security, and health risks of new nuclear power stations are small.
