eon-logo2E.ON has identified land near to the existing nuclear plant at Oldbury as a site which they believe to be strategically suitable for new nuclear development in the UK.

Strategic Siting Assessment (SSA)

The Government’s SSA process is working to identify sites which are suitable or potentially suitable for the deployment of new nuclear power stations by the end of 2025 which includes assessing the sites using set criteria. These sites will be included in a National Policy Statement which will be published in 2010.

Both E.ON and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) have nominated land at Oldbury into the SSA.

E.ON at Oldbury

With our joint venture (JV) partners RWE, we have successfully acquired land at Oldbury through the NDA auction and are carrying out ground investigation works to get a better understanding of the site.

We’re also working on getting to know the area better in terms of meeting with local residents and organisations so we can answer any questions they may have and give them the opportunity to help shape our plans for a potential nuclear development.
