On 2 July 2009, the URENCO Limited Board approved capital expenditure of €360 million for the creation of a Tails Management Facility (TMF) at URENCO’s Capenhurst site, north-west England, UK.

Construction of the Facility will include a 7,000tU per annum capacity (2 kiln) tails hex deconversion plant, a hex cylinder washing plant, a uranium oxide store and associated support facilities.

The construction programme will commence in the coming months, with completion target and online date scheduled for 2014.

This new Facility will generate more than 100 jobs during the construction phase, plus creating around 80 new operational jobs when the plant comes online.

This project represents a significant milestone for URENCO, seeing the company diversify from pure uranium enrichment operations into large scale nuclear chemical operations (supporting the core business).
