Studsvik divests its operations in personal dosimetry services to NYSE listed Landauer, Inc. The sale further strengthens Studsvik’s focus on its main business areas. The sale generates a capital gain of SEK 6.5 million.
Studsvik is the market leader in personal dosimeter services in Sweden with over 6,000 people monitored. Landauer, Inc., is a U.S.-based provider of personal dosimetry services to 1.6 million people in the United States, Japan, France, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Canada, China, Australia, Mexico and other countries.
“Landauer as a specialist operator is uniquely positioned to develop the business in the long run,” says Studsvik’s CEO Magnus Groth.
“We see growth potential in the Swedish radiation monitoring market, in particular new opportunities within nuclear power services, and are excited about the opportunity to acquire such a high-quality, well-run dosimetry laboratory,” commented Bill Saxelby, President and CEO of Landauer.
Studsvik’s personal dosimetry laboratory is the largest independent laboratory in Sweden with approximately 500 active customers. The majority of customers come from businesses related to the medical industry, such as hospitals, dentists, and veterinarians, as well as a growing base of participants in the nuclear industry. Studsvik took over the operations from the Swedish Radiation Protection Institute in 1999.
