Magnox North’s Wylfa Site has announced the appointment of Nick Gore as the new site director following the departure of Greg Evans in September. Nick brings with him a wealth of experience and proven leadership qualities, to what is one of the most vital roles in Magnox North. His new role will commence on November 9th 2009.
Nick, who grew up Criccieth in North Wales, started his career as an apprentice at Trawsfynydd Site in 1971 (which is operated by Magnox North and is currently in the process of being decommissioned) and worked in a variety of roles before becoming the Site Director at Dungeness nuclear power station in Kent. Nick oversaw the end of generation at the site in 2006 and since then has occupied the pivotal role in Magnox North, overseeing compliance with the industry’s regulators.
Nick spoke about his appointment: “I am delighted to have been offered the opportunity to lead the world-class team at Wylfa. The station has got a fantastic reputation for safety and performance and I aim to build on that reputation whilst working to secure the best possible future for Wylfa, its people and the communities on Anglesey.”
