The pace of the Dounreay competition continues to gain momentum, with the NDA announcing the publication of the Contract Notice in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).

The publication of the Contract Notice coincides with the second part of the Industry Event on 9 March in Glasgow and marks the start of the prequalification period of the Dounreay Parent Body Organisation (PBO) Competition.

The event on 9 March is to provide the market with key information about the specific requirements and process for the competition, as well the expectations of key stakeholders and regulators.

Bidders will hear from a range of speakers, including Tony Fountain, NDA Chief Executive, Elizabeth Gray from Scottish Government and MP John Thurso, who also spoke at the first part of the Industry Event in Caithness.

MP John Thurso said:

“Publication of the Contract Notice is an important step forward. This contract will give bidding companies more than just a commercial opportunity: it is also an opportunity to partner the local community in creating a vibrant future economy in the Far North.”

Tony Fountain, NDA Chief Executive, said:

“The first part of the Industry Event in Caithness was very successful – and we are looking forward to building on that with the event on the 9 March. I know that bidders are extremely keen to hear all the details of how the competition will be run, and what we will expect from them. This event in Glasgow, along with the publication of the Contract Notice, should now provide bidders with sufficient information for them to decide if they are going to bid, and if so – to start putting together the best possible offering.”

The next stage of the competition will be the prequalification phase. During this period, the NDA will evaluate potential participants against a series of pre-defined criteria to establish a shortlist of organisations or consortia. Those shortlisted will then be invited to participate in the subsequent stages of the competition.
