Babcock Commits to Nuclear Skills Passport (NSP)

Babcock sign up to Nuclear Skills Passport (NSP)Babcock, the UK’s largest nuclear site management, engineering and support services organisation, has committed to implementing the Nuclear Skills Passport (NSP) across its activities in the UK, supporting the National Skills Academy for Nuclear in the launch of the scheme. Babcock’s managing director Nuclear, Roger Hardy, sealed the agreement in a meeting today (Thursday 17 March) with the National Skills Academy Nuclear’s chief executive Jean Llewellyn, when he signed the NSP Company Charter. The NIA, which is the representative organisation for the UK’s civil nuclear industry, has been saddened by the tragic events in Japan. Our sympathies are with the Japanese people – and our colleagues in the Japanese nuclear industry.

This sequence of events is of historic proportions. It is now officially the worst-ever recorded earthquake in Japan – a country regularly hit by some of the worst seismic activity in the world. Read it all..

Nuclear Island gets funding go-ahead

The innovative employer-backed Nuclear Island skills project is being moved to the next stage following a successful funding bid by Cogent and Imperial College London to the National HE STEM programme.

This will see the immediate development of a Nuclear Island module developed in partnership with Imperial College London in association with universities across England and Wales. A trial will take place in June, with a view to roll out next Spring. Read it all..
