UNIT4, the world’s leading provider of business software for Businesses Living IN Change (BLINC™), yesterday announced that it has secured a new contract with nuclear power specialist Magnox Ltd. The contract is worth approximately £2.5million in software and services to UNIT4 and will see Magnox replace its SAP system and implement Route 66, the latest version of UNIT4’s Agresso Business World ERP suite .

Magnox Ltd operates 10 of the UK’s first generation of nuclear power stations on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority – including Oldbury, the world’s oldest operating nuclear power station. As the sites reach the end of their generating lives, Magnox is going through a transition from being an electricity generator into being a nuclear decommissioning and clean-up organization.

UNIT4 was selected because it would allow Magnox to adapt core systems and processes in a timely and cost effective manner, to reflect the ongoing programme of change across the organization.

“Like many organizations we are always looking to drive greater efficiency, boost performance and make cost savings through our choice and use of technology,” said Andrew Taylor, Head of Project Delivery for Magnox. “We were feeling increasingly limited by our existing system as we could not make the changes required at the speed of change we were experiencing. Agresso Business World’s architectural design makes it simple to respond to business change in the post-implementation phase, without spending or relying on external consultants. It will interface with all our other systems, including those used by our HR and commercial divisions and is essential for managing the business through challenging times, enabling crucial business process redesign. We’ll benefit from accurate and timely financial and management information both now and in the future, while also reducing the cost of change and the long term cost of ownership when compared to reinvesting in the current system we use.

“In selecting UNIT4 we have found not only our solution of choice but also a close and productive working partnership with the wider team. Agresso’s Route 66 release is functionally advanced, change embracing, easy to use and allows us to focus future upgrades in the area which we specifically prioritise. In addition the UNIT4 team has impressed us with its open and honest approach to the project. In fact we view UNIT4 as a trusted advisor. The team knows our business and the wider environment and has helped us find a solution that meets our needs today and for the future.”
