EDF Energy to spend £30 million to mitigate impact of preparatory works at Hinkley Point C

Support for local housing, leisure facilities, transport and local ecology schemes are just some of the ways Somerset residents will benefit from a £30 million package from EDF Energy.

The company has signed an agreement with West Somerset Council and a local landowner which will see the energy company providing £30 million to mitigate the impacts of the works to prepare the site for the proposed Hinkley Point C nuclear power station.

Rolls Royce wins €250 million french nuclear contract

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has won a €250 million contract with AREVA to supply safety instrumentation and control (I&C) technologies and systems for the French nuclear reactor modernisation programme. Studsvik signs 7 year contract with EDF Energy

University of Cambirdge work with industry to educate nuclear leaders of tomorrow

Some of the biggest companies and organisations in the nuclear industry are lending their support to a new course which will prepare the engineers and scientists of tomorrow for incidents such as those recently witnessed in Japan.

 

Despite the recent, unprecedented events at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, global nuclear investment appears likely to continue after a period of careful consideration of the lessons that need to be learned. In the UK, the Government has commissioned a review.

EDF announces the allocation of 50% of RTE shares to nuclear

On 31 December 2010, EDF Group allocated 50% of the RTE shares to its dedicated assets portfolio set aside to cover future costs related to the decommissioning costs of nuclear plants and the downstream fuel cycle. This decision, approved by EDF’s Board of Directors on 14 December 2010, received the necessary administrative approvals. As a result of this decision, RTE remains wholly-owned by EDF. Read it all..
