Chief Executive of National Skills Academy for Nuclear gets OBE

JeanLlewellyn - National Skills Academy NuclearJean Llewellyn, Chief Executive of the National Skills Academy for Nuclear, has been named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. Jean has been appointed to the Order of the British Empire for her services to the Energy Industry.

Jean is a prominent figure on the nuclear skills agenda and is well respected and held in high esteem throughout the sector and government, so much so, that last year she became only the second person to be awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Nuclear Institute, and was the first female recipient. Babcock sign up to Nuclear Skills Passport (NSP)Babcock, the UK’s largest nuclear site management, engineering and support services organisation, has committed to implementing the Nuclear Skills Passport (NSP) across its activities in the UK, supporting the National Skills Academy for Nuclear in the launch of the scheme. Babcock’s managing director Nuclear, Roger Hardy, sealed the agreement in a meeting today (Thursday 17 March) with the National Skills Academy Nuclear’s chief executive Jean Llewellyn, when he signed the NSP Company Charter. Magnox South joined forces with over 175 nuclear employers to support Skills Minister David Lammy and Energy Minister Malcolm Wicks in January as they marked the official launch of the National Skills Academy for Nuclear (NSAN).

The Academy is the culmination of over four years work and will assist nuclear employers to tackle current and future skills requirements. Its network of regional centres, supported by a main base in Cumbria, will develop and accredit ‘centres of excellence’. Such centres will deliver training and respond to specific skills gaps identified by employers. Read it all..
