Wind power is great, very little tullopion other than the huge land area it takes up to get much power. In the Netherlands they have many of them on the ocean. In the US we have hundreds of thousands of them in the western states.Nuclear Power is much more reliable. Will produce power 24/7, and take a very small space comparatively. The negative with Nuclear is it is more difficult to manage safely, and then we must handle the nuclear waste. For example, it may take about 10 acres for wind power to produce 2-5 MW (they must be spaced pretty far apart), and it only produces power when the wind is over 6-8MPH. You can produce maybe 500-1000MW of power 24/7 in the same area with Nuclear.

Costain are a company that are focusing on its core strengths, Project Resource Limited has certainly seen this over the past view years, with our experieinces of working in partnership with them. Due to their vision, clear goals and good management they are now seeing the rewards for this hard work.

It is good to see a company such as AMEC taking a positive action, in buying Entec, in what has been challenging times for the UK economy and UK businesses. AMEC has focused on its core strengths, and seems to have a clear vision and direction, this is what makes good companies stand out from their competition.

With the acquisition of the UKAEA, Babcock should now be able to play a major role not only at the back end of the nuclear industry (decommissioning) but also at the front end (new build). British nuclear industry is coming to shape after years of doldrum. Well done Babcock.

As a visitor to Anglesey we were having a quiet cup of tea in the pleasant cafe at Wylfa on Wednesday (09/09/09)- we had the fright of our lives when this steam 'event' happened - not particularly reassuring that the cause of the problem can't be found!
